Jeremy Dickinson, ROL's newly appointed Managing Director, completed the Virgin London Marathon on Sunday 25th March 2010 in a fantastic time of 5 hours and 50 minutes.
He would like to thank everyone for all their support and good wishes and of course for sponsoring him in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre. He has a few aches, pains and blisters, but otherwise is feeling well and has already registered for the 2011 marathon with a goal of beating his time.
Pictured is his well-deserved medal and we'd all like to take this opportunity to congratulate him on this amazing achievement.
A KNIGHT CALLED DAY
Carl Day was another notable runner in this year's London Marathon, proudly sponsored by ROL.
The Suffolk man donned a full 6-anda-half-stone suit of armour, including chain mail, to raise money for the British Heart Foundation after his daughter Megan was affected by a heart condition.
The metal arms meant Carl's hand couldn’t reach his mouth, so he was drinking through a straw made of fish tank tubing. Neither could he take off his shoes, so his wife followed him along the outskirts of the course supplying plasters and offering support.
"I went out in the suit the Saturday and Sunday before the marathon to prepare for the expected heat, and I nearly caused a few car accidents where people saw me coming.
"But a nice gentleman pulled over, asked me what it was about, and gave me some money for the charity - which was touching."
